From the upcoming album This Bitter Garden (out June 6 via 3DOT Recordings)
Columbus post-hardcore experimentalists For Your Health continue to sharpen their sound and thematic vision with the release of “Flowers for the Worst of Them,” the latest single from their forthcoming sophomore album This Bitter Garden, arriving June 6 via 3DOT Recordings.
The track channels the band’s signature urgency—razor-sharp guitar work, blistering vocals, and emotionally-charged atmosphere—while digging into deeply personal territory. Vocalist Hayden Rodriguez explores the long shadow of their Catholic upbringing, reflecting on how faith and disillusionment intertwine with adulthood. “In the past couple of years, I’ve been thinking about faith and how it relates to my life and the lives of others,” Rodriguez shares.
Guitarist Rosa Delgado adds that the band’s new material is “a true distillation” of past sonic threads—bridging world-building lyricism with the brutal intensity of their early work. That evolution is on full display here, backed by a visualizer directed by guitarist Nick Marzluf.
This Bitter Garden was recorded in just 15 days inside a repurposed church in rural Illinois, with Eric Hudson producing. The album promises to explore the duality of growth and decay, using the metaphor of a garden where both nourishment and poison can thrive. Themes of bitterness, resentment, and transformation pulse throughout the tracklist—which also includes previous single “Davenport (A Rotten Pear),” praised by Stereogum for reaching “Blood Brothers levels of euphoric anxiety.”
Pre-orders for This Bitter Garden are live now, with limited edition vinyl and cassette available via 3DOT Recordings.
